SPOTLIGHT

Deeply upsetting expose on BBC's Panorama on Monday 19 April.

It flies in the face of the painful reflective process we have engaged in this past year as a parish, where we have sought to confront our own blindspots.

Personally, I was most upset to hear of the use of Non Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) in one particular case cited in the documentary.

I was, however, encouraged that the documentary concluded with the experience and ministry of Rev. Kina Robertshaw [pictured in thumbnail], someone with whom I trained at Ridley Hall, Cambridge.

We are indeed a "fractured institution." So we pray that the transforming power of the Holy Spirit would radiate the unifying power of Christ's love through the fissures and cracks of our past failures, to build a better, brighter future.

As ever, please don't hesitate to reach out, especially if the themes in the documentary resonate with your experience. It would be good to meet, to pray, and to work together for change.
