Who's Who at St. Pauls
Rev Simon Couper
Hello, I’m Simon and I am the vicar here at St Paul’s Beckenham.
My wife, two boys and I moved to the area in 2017 when I took up post. As vicar, I oversee the work of the parish, and I am supported in this with the help of the many committed volunteers who make St Paul’s such a fun and vibrant place to serve.
My desire is for St Paul’s to continue to grow as a Christ-centred community; as together we seek to be faithful to the Scriptures, reliant on God’s Spirit and attentive to the needs of our wider community and society.
I love spending time with people, particularly my boys who are a delight to Anna and me. Away from “churchy” things, I have two somewhat contradictory passions, cooking and sport. Basically, I exercise to justify my love of Italian cuisine.
Stephanie Fox - Church Administrator
Rosemary Dear - Church Warden
Biddy Gillman - Church Warden
Simon Dalwood - Lay Reader
Sarah Butler - Lay Reader
I moved to Beckenham in 1991 and quickly found my way to St Paul’s. My participation in the life of the church has been varied, from the gardening team, to the sound system, as well as involvement with children and young people of all ages.
In 2009 I was licensed as a Reader and enjoy preaching and leading services. I am also a member of the Prayer Ministry Team. Apart from St Paul’s I have recently retired from a full-time job in the Civil Service and am currently also a carer for my elderly mother. My other interests are bird-watching, photography and music.
Anne Howick - Pastoral Assistant
David Charlesworth - Lay Evangelist
I spend most of my life outside of church circles - family, work, sport, music and motorbikes - but faith is an integral part of all of them and life in general. Since becoming a Christian, faith has proved not only to be a great road map on how to try and live life, but has been a deep spiritual experience of knowing and being loved by God directly.
As an evangelist I'm called to share that experience in a gentle and practical way with those who wonder what Christian faith might mean for them.
